## Description

During the pandemic, in the midst of confinement, she began to work on the technique of the instrument and approach the traditional sounds of the country. She started with the gaita: a hybrid instrument that unites the wax head of the gaita with the body of the transverse flute. A mix that not only transforms the sound; it also brings it closer to jazz. In her album Muntu, the first recording of this instrument in Colombian jazz was registered. Although her training is classical, Oramas has explored other paths: the music of the Pacific and the Caribbean, which she has brought to the transverse flute, opening space for improvisation and dialogue between sounds. If you want to hear what her music sounds like, we await you in the Concert Hall of the #BLAA. We also invite you to the previous talk “No solo hay taitas en la gaita” by Laura Alarcón (@alacrantrinador)
