Travel back to the origins of cinema with Amazing Tales from the Archives! The Italian Cultural Institute of San Francisco supports the San Francisco Silent Film Festival 2026 edition (May 6–10), returning to the iconic Castro Theatre. Carlo Chatrian, Director of the Museo Nazionale del Cinema in Turin, will present selections from his museum’s extraordinary collection of pre-cinema devices, shedding light on the inventions that shaped the birth of moving images. This program has celebrated the importance of film preservation since 2006.
