## Description

On Friday at SHOW LA, PAC LA sits down with photographer Alejandro Cartagena @alexcartagenamex for an intimate discussion moderated by gallerist Paul Kopeikin @kopeikingallery — and the topics on the table are as wide-ranging as Cartagena’s practice itself.

Where does a photographer who works across landscape, portraiture, and new media locate himself in today’s art world? What does it mean to be an advocate for NFTs while also being deeply rooted in the photobook tradition? And what’s happening right now in Mexican and Latin American photography — and how does it speak to the current moment in the United States?

Cartagena’s work is held in the permanent collections of SFMOMA, The Getty, George Eastman House, and more. His mid-career retrospective Ground Rules, curated by Shana Lopes, is currently on view at SFMOMA. This is a rare chance to hear him think out loud.

Immediately following the talk, Cartagena will sign copies of Ground Rules at the Aperture booth. PAC LA members receive 20% off the book.
