## Description

An exhibition by the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires, presented as part of the "Memory and Future" axis, which proposes to think about memory in relation to the present and full awareness of history as a starting point for imagining the future.
This exhibition takes place on a crucial historical date for Argentina: the 50th anniversary of the 1976 coup d'état that began the last military dictatorship (1976–1983), a regime that established a systematic policy of censorship, persecution, and forced disappearance of people, and pushed thousands more into exile.
"Darkness Visible" brings together nineteen artists and collectives from various generations, with works spanning from the 1970s to the present. The exhibition understands art as a vehicle for understanding history, protecting memory and human rights, participating in activism against state terrorism, and raising awareness about violence. It includes works by important contemporary artists who responded to that historical moment with alarm, condemnation, or criticism; others who embodied the transition from dictatorship to democracy; and those who continue to denounce the violence that prevails in contemporary societies and the growing violence in films.
