## Description

Panama is one of the countries with the most birds per km

2 in the world. This is due to its location as a bridge between North and South America, which allows for the mixture of resident and migratory species, as well as its variety of ecosystems.

Platforms like eBird, developed by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, show key points where observers record birds throughout the country.

Note: these maps reflect observation activity, not just biodiversity.

And all this comes to life in the Global Big Day, which this May 9, 2026 will bring together thousands of people around the world to record birds in a single day.

In 2025, Panama registered 771 species in 24 hours, one of the highest counts in the region.

Every record helps to better understand biodiversity, migrations, and the status of species.

You don't need to be an expert: just go out, observe, and record.

From where will you participate?
