## Description

ICSC kicks off “The Hive Mind Series” with a powerful first conversation: Ibero-American Memories of Enforced Disappearance. Across the world, enforced disappearance continues to generate urgent demands for truth, justice, reparations, and guarantees of non-repetition. In this session, we will explore how communities respond to these enduring harms. Drawing on a collaborative research initiative led by ICSC member, the Museo Casa de la Memoria of Medellín (Colombia) @museocasadelamemoria.med, and involving partners from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Spain, Mexico, Peru, and Portugal, this first virtual roundtable will bring together experiences from three Sites of Conscience in Colombia, Lebanon, and Nepal. The discussion will deepen comparative reflection and broaden understanding of how communities confront enforced disappearance within their respective contexts. Taken together, these perspectives will offer critical insights into how enforced disappearance constitutes one of the most severe and persistent human rights violations, particularly in regions shaped by diverse forms of political and social violence. This phenomenon has left profound marks on collective memory and has given rise to countless repertoires of resistance led by victims who, despite their suffering, emerge as essential political actors in the construction of memory and in the pursuit of truth and guarantees of non-repetition.
