## Description

The MARGS presents the exhibition “Carlos Wladimirsky — A permanência do tempo”. The inauguration will be on May 9 (Saturday), at 10:30 AM. One of the most outstanding artists from Rio Grande do Sul of his generation, Carlos Wladimirsky (Porto Alegre/RS, 1956) has been developing his production since the 1970s. In these 50 years of trajectory, he explored drawing, painting, engraving, jewelry, and ceramics, constituting his own visual language, linked to the contemporary developments of abstraction and its expressive and experimental possibilities. His work as a visual artist followed an intense experience with experimental theater and performance. He was also one of the artists integrated into Espaço N.O. – Centro Alternativo de Cultura, a benchmark for experimental and avant-garde art in Porto Alegre between 1979 and 1982. In the 1980s, Wladimirsky's production was quickly recognized with awards in exhibitions throughout Brazil. In this context, MARGS presented his first solo exhibition in 1983. The exhibition “Carlos Wladimirsky — A permanência do tempo” presents an overview of the artist's production since the 1980s, with a selection of drawings, paintings, and objects from the MARGS collection and private collections, being its first retrospective and historical exhibition. Curated by Francisco Dalcol, director of MARGS, “Carlos Wladimirsky — A permanência do tempo” continues the current cycle of new monographic exhibitions of artists with a trajectory and who are part of the MARGS collection.
