## Description

An exhibition titled “Trabalho de Carnaval” featuring elements of the Maracatu Elefante court, a precursor to an association founded in the outskirts of Recife in 1800. On display are the banner; the elephant allegory, referencing Oxalá, the orixá of creation; Dona Santa's costume and the canopy that protected her in processions; one of the three calungas, small dolls representing power and hierarchy; and examples of percussion instruments painted in red and white, colors of Xangô, the orixá of justice. The exhibition is sponsored by Itaú, Kinea, Renner, Stella Artois, and Gol, with media support from Revista Piauí, through the Federal Law for the Promotion of Culture – Rouanet Law and PROAC ICMS Incentive Law.
